The Providence River Pedestrian Bridge opens in Rhode Island—SITU Fabrication’s first public infrastructure project

August 9th 2019

The Providence River Pedestrian Bridge officially opens to the public, reconnecting the east and west sides of the river on the pillars of a former, vehicle-only highway. The idea for the pedestrian bridge was first conceived in the mid-1990s; years later, a design competition was held to enhance the bridge’s design, and the bid was awarded to inFORM studio in 2011. SITU Fabrication was hired by inFORM to refine the project’s sinuous new cladding system and custom structural connections, contributing to the complex, organic appearance of the overall design.

We’ll announce more about this project soon!
