SITU Research launches interactive platform on Darfur with Amnesty International

September 29th 2016

Working in coordination with Amnesty International, SITU Research released an interactive, digital platform revealing the use of chemical warfare on civilians in Jebel Marra, one of the most remote regions of Darfur. Using satellite imagery and more than 200 in depth interviews, Amnesty's investigation indicates that at least 30 chemical attacks have taken place within the region from January to September of 2016. In collaboration, SITU synthesized geo-spatial information, satellite imagery, witness testimony, and photographs into a single interface to provide a spatial and temporal account of the devastating attacks.
