The Intercept — “Portland Reckons with Police Attacks on Protesters After Months of Unrest”

The Intercept covers SITU Research’s visual investigation of the Portland Police Bureau’s violent repression of a Black Lives Matter protest on June 30. This work was presented in the U.S. District Court in a case filed by Don’t Shoot Portland, which sought to determine whether Portland Police violated a court order restraining their use of less lethal weapons.

“The reconstruction, which was shown in court last week, offered a forensic analysis of a protest with a level of detail that is usually reserved for criminal investigations. It provided a rare piece of evidence of abuse by officers that is much harder to dismiss than most witness accounts of a confrontation with police, opening the door, protesters and their advocates hope, for some equally rare accountability.”
