Partner Brad Samuels joins Libraries as Places symposium at NYU’s Institute for Public Knowledge

April 25th 2019

This April, partner Brad Samuels joins Libraries as Places symposium at New York University’s Institute for Public Knowledge. The event convenes a group of librarians, library activists, academics, architects, designers, design critics, disability advocates and others to collaboratively examine the library as a public environment. We offer a unique perspective on the topic distilled from our recent work with the Brooklyn Public Library (BPL). The project, titled Making Space, is a scalable, kit-of-parts architecture that helps libraries realign their spaces with the needs of 21st century communities. Our work with BPL builds upon a previous design concept—L+: Re-Envisioning Branch Libraries—that emerged from a groundbreaking report by the Center for an Urban Future on the state of library facilities across the five boroughs.
