Octavian Advisors
Adjaye Associates contracted SITU Fabrication to produce a cartographic feature wall for the New York office of Octavian Advisors. The design’s relief work incorporates satellite imagery from 16 cities around the world and runs the length of the entire office, spanning more than 90 linear feet.
Working from imagery provided by the architect, we translated the files into a binary format which was used to laser-engrave 133 unique panels of MDF. The distinctive charring from this process enhanced a sense of depth, with darkened portions representing bodies of water and dense streets. Each panel was then clear coated to preserve both the visual effect and the material itself.
