Architecture, Planning, and International Law: On Domicide — An Architecture League panel discussion moderated by board member and Director of SITU Research, Brad Samuels

Last week at Architecture League of New York, board member and Director of SITU Research, Brad Samuels, moderated a panel discussion, “Architecture, Planning, and International Law: On Domicide."

Panelisits Natasha Arurian, an urbanist and researcher based in Berlin and Ramallah, and Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the United Nations’ special rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, spoke about the role of architects and planners in mitigating the impacts of urban warfare and seeking redress through mechanisms of international accountability.

The conversation addressed the mass destruction of homes in Gaza, Ukraine, Darfur and Myanmar and also explored the potential for Domicide to be enshrined as a Crime Against Humanity under International Law.
