Saks Fifth Avenue Elevator Headers
SITU Fabrication was contracted by Gensler to produce a series of elevator headers for Saks Fifth Avenue’s eponymous New York Flagship.
Working with white oak panels, we CNC-milled a delicate relief with arcing lines that catch some of the light from a recessed alcove above.
The panels are finished with a dark two-part stain that enhances the natural grain variation in the plain sawn wood. Standing close to the elevators, the headers appear to have a graphite-like quality.
