Douglas Elliman: Art Basel Miami Beach 2014

We worked with creative agency Watson & Company to produce a reconfigurable showroom for Douglas Elliman, which appeared at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2014.

Our role was to engineer and fabricate a series of features, including an ornamental screen, LCD wall enclosures and 15 ultra-thin wall mounted light boxes. We made the showroom walls with prefabricated plywood modules clad with aluminum composite. The panels support 80 inch LCDs, which conceal the bezel and mounting hardware beneath. For the lightboxes, we combined ultra-thin LEDs with stretched canvas graphics.

To create the showroom’s facade and entry point, we made an ornamental screen spanning 40 ft long and 11 ft tall. Made of 510 anodized aluminum rings, the fabrication process required various steps of production, from rolling laser-cut polished aluminum plates to varying diameters, to gold anodizing the aluminium and then finally assembling with brass binding posts.
